So I was in the store the other day, and bought a dozen chocolate no-bake cookies, for a cost of $2.99, they were absolutely delicious. However, I got to thinking about these and think I got the wrong end of the deal, though these cookies were very good. So, I did some searching and found a similar recipe, that with some modification, I was able to recreate these cookies, for a total cost of under six dollars, I made the below batch of 60 cookies, total cost right around 10 cents per cookie. So, if you buy these in the store at $2.99 for 12, you will be paying roughly twenty-four cents per cookie; where as with this recipe, you can make them for a mere dime, 10 cents each.

What could be better than an indulgent dessert made from ingredients you have sitting in your pantry and that never needs to go into the oven? These cookies take just minutes of work; most of the time is spent waiting for them to harden into the rich, nutty, chocolate delights that they are.
Total time: 40 min; Prep: 5 min; Inactive: 30 min, and Cook time: 5 min. Yields about 60+ cookies and very easy to make.
Ingredients
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup milk
1 stick (8 tablespoons) un-salted butter
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
1 cup smooth peanut butter (can be used with chunky as well)
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon salt
Line a baking sheet with wax paper, parchment, or aluminum foil.
Using a medium saucepan, and medium heat bring the sugar, milk, butter and cocoa to a boil, stirring occasionally, then let boil for 1 to 2 minutes. Remove from the heat. Add the oats, peanut butter, vanilla and salt, and stir vigorously to combine.
Drop teaspoonfuls of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, and let sit at room temperature until cooled and hardened, about 30 minutes. Then enjoy.
Can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 10 days.
I am always willing to share life’s little pleasures, enjoy.
